Kellogg's Rip Off

I asked my daughter to go to the store yesterday to get cereal, among other things. My list had "cereal-lrg BAG". She came back with two boxes. "They were on sale... two for $6" (snort. sale...yeah. But oh well... if you want something done a certain way you have to do it yourself. I didn't want to go to the store, so my bad.)

The cereal in question is Kellogg's frosted mini wheats. Blueberry and Strawberry. 16oz.

The boys each had a bowl yesterday and a bowl this morning and the box is now empty. Four bowls of cereal for $3. WTF? Granted, they were adult size bowls and they were very full... but still, four bowls? If they each had one bowl a morning, I would have to buy 15 boxes to last a month. 15 boxes of cereal at $3 each comes to $45.

Well, I won't be buying any more mini wheats. Let the boys eat eggs. I'll throw in some pine cones for the fiber.

And next time my daughter goes to the store with my money, I will be stressing BAG...BAG of cereal only!!

Its always about the bottom line.... the profit margins.... to hell with them! Why don't they save a real bundle of money and outsource their CEO position. Outsource their CFO, their accounting jobs, everything. Ship it all over to India, damn it. Get the hell out! Soon there will be no need for a trucking business to ship products.... there's no one left to purchase anything!!

Tax the crap outta 'em!! Oh wait.... republicans don't want any taxes on businesses. We can't tax the crap out of them. They claim taxes costs jobs, but its really greed that costs jobs.

Con-way is no doubt owned by republicans and damn it, they want their profits!! Untaxed profits, thankyouverymuch. Apparently its the American way. (my apologies to Canada, Mexico, and Central and South America for using the term 'American way'.)

Any business operators reading this? No? Well, I'm gonna say it anyway. Let your contract with Con-way run out, move to a company that operates in the USA and then publicize it. Great PR!! Especially now days.

Have you heard about the christian minister in Miami who is planning on burning the Quran on Sept. 11th? Terry Jones of the Dove World Outreach Center. I think Terry needs a reality check.

Apparently he doesn't care that publically burning the Quran would put our service people in harms way. Why should he care? He's here and they are on the other side of the world. What's he got to be concerned about? After all, he's special. He's a christian.

"Jones, author of a book called "Islam is of The Devil," told CNN's "American Morning" show that the burning was designed to send a message to radical Islam."

And what would that message be, Terry? That Americans are intolerant of others? That you in your wisdom know what's right for everyone else in the world? That you are one stupid piece of luggage? Or could this be more a matter of trying to sell your book so you can make a buck? Perhaps its all of the above.

If he does burn the Quran maybe that will end up reducing the number of ignorant people on this earth by one.

In case you are like me and normally do not read blog comments I thought it only fair to point out that Qwest responded to my rant (see post below for rant.) Imagine my surprise to see a comment from Steph Lake, Manager of 'talk to us' dept. at Qwest. (I wonder if Steph is a real person or just a name used. Doesn't matter to me, though. I was just wondering.)

Great PR and marketing tool... that personal touch. And completely unexpected since its coming from a large corporation. It impressed the heck outta me!

Congress. They've done it again. You know... the politicians who claim to be looking out for our good. They defeated the bill that would allow unemployment benefits to be extended, cause everyone knows you don't give money to poor people. They just waste it on food. Then they repealed the bill that reduced the fees doctors could charge patients and we all know how much doctors need money. After all, those malpractice insurance premiums cost a pretty penny. (No need to stop the malpractice and get rid of the incompetent doctors... just buy more insurance.)

And don't get me started on the Bush/Cheney war. We're in year nine, I believe, going on ten. Ten years of war. Mission accomplished.

What's up with MSN and Bing? They must have a thing goin' on... or sumpin. I see a headline on MSN's home page that I'd like to read so I click on the link and what do I get? I get a damn Bing search result page. WTF is that about? If I wanted to search I would have personally put in a search key in a search engine of my choise. If I want to read something and I click on a hot link.... I DON'T EXPECT TO GO TO ANOTHER SEARCH PAGE!

Yes, I am sometimes ungrateful. Why do you ask?

Bottom line, I won't be doing much clicking on headlines on msn.com since it will, no doubt, take me to another search engine. I will go directly to a search engine of MY CHOICE and key in the search key. I don't need yet another level of advertising. In fact I think I'm going to change my homepage from msn.com to something else.

What a bunch of tease and for what?

I'm cranky today and BravoTV isn't helping. It was my understanding that one could watch their programs on their web site. Apparently that's not true. Gasp. Its not true? But they said!

I just went to watch the second episode of Work of Art but all they have up is the first episode. Well, Dove.... I won't be watching any of your ads because, you know, I've already seen the first episode. How much money did you pay to have your ads viewed?

And I almost felt like buying some Dove soap the next time I need some. Now I'm not so sure, because,...well, because I'm crusty and I'm cranky. Two bad combinations.

PS...I'm still cranky. I've just been to the site again and disappointment prevails. Even when I click on "watch the photos", only four show up. Example, watch Miles pick his junk 1 - 17 photos. It goes to four and stops. I may not be making sense and its probably just as well since I'm cranky. Not to worry. No more comments about Work of Art. Why, you may ask.... because I can't watch the show. If its not on their web site, then too bad for me. I'm shit out of luck.

Things That Make You Go HMMMMMMM

The media continues to scream cutbacks/increased taxing by various levels of government. What makes me go OHMYGAWD! is the thought that with a 10% unemployment rate our city and state government can't survive. Like, OMG.... was it so fragile it can't survive a 5% decrease in funding? What the hell is going on, any damn way?

Okay, I can hear the imaginary numbers people saying wait a minute. you said 10% unemployment rate but a 5% decrease in funding. Hey stupid. That doesn't add up. Well, my little chickadees, it does add up if you start with the "normal" unemployment rate of 5% which is fairly constant. That means the increased decrease in funding is 5%. (I've rounded up or down, as the case may be, to simplify things for me because I'm not a math/numbers person. And I'm spending way too much time, explaining myself.)

How much of this funding issue is due to mismanagement? Will all the incompetent people please step down. You know who you are. (This should pretty much empty the council room.)

While speaking of governments, let me babble on a little about our city government. Where the hell did these people come from? Is it a case of "oh gee, I can't seem to be able to do anything so I better go into politics to make a living."

We've managed to vote in a real winner for mayor. He's a proven liar and he has demonstrated his poor decision making skills by getting caught in a sex scandal. With an intern, no less. Talk about shitting where you eat. EEUUUU! (There's also a question of underaged sex, but it couldn't be verified.) How smart is that?! Zip up you're damn pants when you're on the job!

I think what has really pissed off the voters, though, is that this mayor took money from the water bureau to fund painting bike lanes around the city. Our sewer charges are out of sight as it is, and he's taking money from them like its his own personal bank account. And guess what we're facing now? Yup, another hike in our water/sewer rates. The mayor must have some more bike lanes to paint and maintain, the little trucker!

On to another commissioner... I was watching the news one evening. They were showing video of a large fire and who's standing on the roof with some of the firefighters? The damn commissioner who oversees the fire department. WTF? Apparently he use to be a firefighter, but that in no way makes it okay for him to get in the way of the REAL firefighters. They have to worry about his stupid ass instead of paying close attention to what they're doing. What a stupid juvenile thing to do... like, what the hell??!!

Although I'm stupid enough to become a politian, I'm at least smart enough to stay the hell away from politics. You know, except for voicing my opinion.

The police beating of the University of Maryland student after a basketball game, the beating that was caught on tape... do you feel outrage? I feel OUTRAGE!!!

I hope the student wins his lawsuit and wins BIG. Then I hope the officers involved lose their jobs immediately. And I also hope that those most guilty get thrown in jail or prison. Lets see how big and bad they are then, the dirty little thugs in uniform. Its outrageous. If they get away with this, then we need to just shut up and prepare to live in a police state.

Next on the list is the chief of police, the commissioner, followed by the mayor. Shit travels downhill. If this kind of conduct happens its because its condoned by the bosses.

I hope the other students who got beaten by the police (to set examples) also sue and win.

This kind of outrage has gone on forever, only now we have video cameras.... all over the place. Perhaps with more cameras, we'll get more of the truth.

Around my neck of the woods, cops have been doing a lot of killings lately. Based on my limited knowledge of what truly happens (relying on the media and we all know how accurate that is), a few of them seemed warranted for the safety of all in the area. The rest of them, not so much. If you are mentally ill, or you know someone who is, NEVER call the cops for help should there be a crisis of sort. If you do call them, start looking in the phone book for a funeral home because you are likely to need one. The cops shoot first and ask questions later. And there's no such thing as innocent until proven guilty. Unless, of course, you are a police officer. Then you're a god.

Be outraged! Be outraged and let your public "servants" know you are outraged.

The US has captured some pirates off the coast of Kenya. Upon reading the headlines I'm thinking good... a few less pirates on the seas for a while. But when I read the article all I could think was huh? Here's an excerpt:

The USS Nicholas was just west of the Seychelles in international waters Thursday when crew began taking fire from a suspected pirate skiff, NBC News reported. The Nicholas returned fire and disabled the pirate boat, then pursued the skiff until it finally broke down.

A few men in a tiny skiff fired shots at a US naval vessal... WTF? Did someone's nose just grow longer? Are these men that stupid? The naval ship is just sitting out there minding its own business when they were viciously attacked by a few men in a skiff. I repeat... WTF?

I think these details are suspicious. I can see the US ship spotting the pirates (or even tracking them down) and taking them out, but it looks like the navy is trying to play the nonaggressor role.

We've had a lot of shootings going on around here and lately its picked up. Gang related. The following is from one of our local tv stations:

"The family of a man shot and killed in Portland last Friday said the killer called them to apologize.

Deangelo Oliver, 29, was killed in the shooting, near the intersection of SE 89th and Division and two other people were injured.

Police believe the shooting was gang-related.

Oliver’s aunt told the Oregonian that the shooter, who is still on the run, called the family to apologize. They said they know the shooter and don’t want to release his name.

Police said that kind of response was common when it comes to gang violence".

Well. How 'bout that. Such a good mannered young man, right? I think this screams volumes about the nature of the family involved.

Sometimes its so frustrating that I think okay...let them kill each other then. But that leaves all those random bullets searching for a place to explode. Those are the ones that kill bystanders so that's not an answer. Not an acceptable one.

I wonder if the young man/teen called to apologize because he doesn't want the family coming after him for retaliation. Gangland vengence. Well, good luck with that.

I'm so tired of people using my blog to make a couple of pennies. I'm talking about the people who leave comments on a blog post which are clearly meant to promote someone else's business. I'm being used and I don't like it. If I'm not making money from my blogs, I damn sure don't want other people to try to make money. I will delete every comment that even begins to smack of advertising. And puleeese... if your pc is set up to use the Chinese language how many people reading an English language blog will even be able to read your comments. STOP BEING SO FRIGGING LAZY AND GO GET A REGULAR JOB. If you can' work a regular job, then think of something else you can do BESIDES using other people. You stink!

And that Lohan chick. Get over yourself. Try growing up. Readers, did you think of Lindsey Lohan when you saw the e-trade commercial with the babies talking... the one that references Milk-holic Lindsey? She never once crossed my mind. How arrogant to think the world knows her by one name. Alcoholic dementia, no doubt. I hope whomever she is suing fights it to the end, even if it costs a fortune. She could end up having to pay for their legal fees. Cackle, snort.

The census... I found it interesting that the only things the government wants to know is if you are buying your home or renting and what race you are. Do you remember the previous census? I don't... I can't remember if they wanted to know if you have a mortage or not. I find it a little weird.

Seems like I should have a few more rants, but they escape me at the moment.

I was just checking my bank account online and saw that fees were going up. I went to go see what they looked like, because afterall... I don't do banks. I'm a credit union person and they watch out for their members.

I find myself cringing a little each time I open it. I think its because its all negative... no balance. I've been known to praise technology on one day and then bitch about it on another. This blog would only contain the bitching. You know, out of balance.

I'm going to get a notebook and put all my bitching in it, then no one else needs to be exposed to it and every so often I can destroy the evidence. Cause you know. I'm such a sweet person.

*Addendum: I will be rethinking about keeping this blog going because of a couple of comments from people. What is more important? Being honest in my presentation or having people think I'm boring? I mean 'nice'. I guess the bottom line is that if people don't want to be exposed to bitching, they won't come here.

I don't plan on taking any action right now. I'll see how it goes. I know I enjoy reading blogs written by people who are real. Sigh. I don't know. I guess it stays for now.

I Want My Life Back, Damn it!

I'm tired of being a mother. A mother is someone you use when you're down on your luck or are just plain lazy. I want motherhood to stop. And lets not even talk about pretending to be a grandmother. I simply do not have it in me to be something I'm not... and I'm not a kids person. I've tried. I have sincerely tried, but its not gonna happen. I seem to expect a child to listen to adults and do what they are told to do........ snort. One of life's biggest jokes.

I want my life back. The life without live-ins, life without unruly rug rats. I want my car back. I want my bank account back. I want my apartment back. I WANT MY SANITY BACK!

And at this point, the odds of this happening are a gazillion to one against it.

oh yeah.... AND I'M TIRED OF WATCHING CARTOONS!! (However, my favorite is Jacob Two-two. I like the drawings. sigh.)

PS. I think two weeks is too long for school to be out... especially when there's continous rain so there's no playing outside. After winter break comes spring break, then summer break. crap.

Pop Up Ads

What's up with all these irritating pop-up ads?! They're showing up on blogs, youtube, all over. And they pop-up RIGHT IN YOUR FACE. I feel like I'm a trapped wallet and all these grubby fingers are trying to force open my pockets so they can grab my folding money.

I didn't mind the side-bar ads. After all, they are what help to keep internet actives free.... but in MY FACE!! Its too much.

I feel like pretty soon all consumers will be gouged, skewered to the ground so they can't move and they will be actually forced to watch advertisements. Who am I kidding. We won't be forced to watch advertising. They just go straight to our money and forget about getting anything for it. After all, their CEOs need those million dollar bonuses. That's what capitalism is all about. Greed.

Is it just me or.....

I'm getting tired of looking at DARK pictures on blogs, especially photos of art work. Just one big block of DARKNESS. Doesn't it show up on their monitors as dark? Is it just mine? Don't the artists give a fig?

Lighten the photos just a little. What the hell good is posting art work if no one can see it? Or are you too special to bother with it. THINK!!!!! Think things through; put yourself in the other person's shoes. I don't care how good your art is, if I can't see it then its a bunch of crap to me. And everyone knows that my opinion is the only one that counts.

Don't count on your credit card!

Citibank (and others) are cancelling people's credit cards without letting them know ahead of time. Reportedly the cancellation came because of something on the people's credit report. No big balances.

In their greed the credit cards are cancelling accounts for those who pay on time and carry small, if any, balances. No balance, no interest collected. No balance, no HUGE late fees. And without interest and fees, how will they be able to pay their CEO 30 million dollars in bonuses. Life is so hard sometimes.

I hope it all backfires on them big time. Maybe credit will become a thing of the past and we'll be paying in cash. How refreshing that will be.... if you have any cash on hand.

So... Letterman is the latest to have his various affairs with staff members made public. Someone tried to exhort $2 million but the only thing it got them was arrested.

It comes as no surprise to me and I suspect its no surprise to anyone else either. I'm just not sure which is more powerful in a man's life... sex or money.

Watching Letterman come on to females on his shows was ... was typical I guess. And embarrassing to watch. Each time I noticed it I wondered how it made his wife feel. But after a 20+ yr relationship, no doubt she's use to it. I think they married only to make their child legit in legal matters. They could have a good relationship going for all I know. And by 'good relationship' I mean she knows he screws around and has come to terms with it. But now that its public knowledge it might change things. She'll have excellent terms to take him to the cleaners. Maybe he'll have to give up a few of his silk suits.

Its just a ho-hum piece of news.

Its sad. I'm sad. I'm sad that so many people swallow the scam(s).

I don't get it. How did it become a major scandal for a President to speak to students to encourage them to stay in school and to apply themselves? I just don't get it.

I'm really sad when I notice that someone I know is up in arms over it. So be it. Its not any of my business or concern, but that doesn't preclude a feeling of sadness on my part.

This isn't really a rant. Just more of an opinion piece because I'm voicing yet another uninformed opinion.

So... Whitney Houston is finally doing a come back. I don't think anyone can deny her talent, her ability to belt out a song with voice discipline. At least she use to be able to do it. I've heard her range is not as good as it use to be, but those of us who can't sing probably won't even notice it. I do wish her well and hope things turn out for her. But.....

I use to admire her a lot. I gave her qualities that apparently she didn't possess. She must have had a great PR person behind her. I had trouble understanding what Bobby Brown meant when he said Whitney was more ghetto than he was, until I saw that infamous interview where she says "crack is whack" and she is trying to convince people she's not strung out. It didn't work. There was the ghetto bitch Bobby was talking about.

After that interview I felt I had a better understanding of why she was even with Bobby Brown. With Bobby, she could be herself.

Medicare is Driving Up the Cost of Health Care

That's what a local doctor said in a meeting... that medicare was what was driving up the cost of health care. WTF?!?

The news story didn't include an explanation of how medicare was increasing costs, but the only thing I could think of was that medicare payments are lower than insurance payments. Perhaps that means the doctors have to charge other patients more. You know... so that the good doctor can buy his third vacation home in Italy.

I don't know, but I ain't buying that bridge.

Maybe its because too many people on medicare seek health care. And that means they live longer, which in turn means more doctor visits, etc. As far as I can tell, the good doctor didn't mention anything about medicare fraud. But I don't see how that could affect actual costs of treatment. Or maybe it just means the good doctor is a republican. One of those pillars of moral decency. A religious republican living in a capitalist country.

But you know what the most scariest part is.... that no matter what the profession, it doesn't automatically mean there's any intelligence. Or common sense.

Oh... maybe the good doctor has stock in insurance and/or drug companies. We all know how honest they are. Can you say AIG? Can you drool over a $30 million dollar bonus? That's what is driving up the cost of health care.

Where were they when the United States was on the verge of declaring war on another country? Oh sure, we had some protestors, but where were the huge, outspoken, angry mobs of people? Where were the voices saying "Not my son" or "Not my daughter?"

Perhaps they were inside counting their money.

Its interesting to watch how people react to different things. Personally, I think folks are being manipulated by the health care industry, but that's just my opinion. There's big bucks in those pills.

The subject: Henry Gates' arrest in Cambridge.

First, I don't know diddly about what really went on there, although I have read the initial police report. I think only those who witnessed it know what really happened... but that's not going to keep me from talking about it.

To refresh your memory, Henry Gates is a Harvard professor and is very well known in most circles. You may have seen him on public tv or Oprah. He was arrested for disorderly conduct when police responded to a buglary-in-process call at his home.

It sounds like Gates was already pissed off about something and the arriving cop just gave him a target. I think he should have been thanking the officer for coming to make sure no one was breaking into his home, but instead he started raving about racial shit. He had just come back from a trip and was probably tired and irritated that his front door wouldn't open. And besides.... he's Mr. Gates, prominent professor. Everyone should know who he is by sight.

Then on the other hand there's a police officer who, as we all know, rule the streets and are mini gods. There are good and competent police officers but I think there are more of the jerk kind who let their uniform go to their heads.

Why did Gates not thank the cop for coming to check on things? Why did Gates not show his identification in the first place? I would want a cop to verify that I was the resident and not just take my word for it. Now in fairness, Gates did show his ID but not when first asked. Maybe Gates was itching for a fight... maybe his ego needed stroking. Who knows.

I think Gates acted inappropriately, especially for a Harvard professor and "pillar of the community", not that the officer didn't contribute to the situation as well. But it sounds like Gates went off the minute he saw the uniform.

If Gates is as smart as he's suppose to be, he'll let this thing fade away. If he doesn't then I guess you don't have to have common sense to be a Harvard professor.

PS, I wonder if Mr. Gates is diabetic. If his blood sugar was low, that would explain the reaction.

I've been search for a place I could give feedback to the Federal government about digital tv.... and I can't find anywhere. I can find how to complain about the equipment, but I wanted to add my voice to others about having to switch period. This certainly has done nothing to improve how I feel about the federal government. They screw us as much, if not more, than all the crooked businesses and scammers out there.

okay. Calm down. The only choice I have is to stop watching tv altogether...which wouldn't be a bad idea even without the digital bs. So all you advertisers out there paying big bucks to bombard us with ads, you've lost another potential customer. I refuse to sign up for cable. That's a whole other source of screwing.

sigh. I'm glad I at least had this place to vent. I'll be listening to public radio. Speaking of public radio/television, have you noticed ads are starting to appear on public tv. They probably aren't called ads, but that's what they are. Perhaps the businesses were given the chance to put their own words on air because they contributed to public broadcasting. And it looks like they are taking good advantage of it.

No matter. This will be good practice for when I go live in a cave somewhere.

I'm so tired of junk mail. And what's up with Comcast. What a waste of money, which is actually their customers' money from being overcharged for service. I get fliers in the mail a couple of times a week from them and its beginning to be a very very irritating matter to me. Whoever approved of this junk mail blitz needs to be fired. IT AIN'T WORKIN'. DUH!! STOP WASTING ALL THOSE TREES!!

And automated calls from collectors. I've been getting them a couple of times a week. The recording is mumbled and I couldn't get the businesses name, but they apparently wanted me to return their call to talk about my debt. I don't owe anything but this just hit me at the wrong time...right after I got comcast's junk mail AGAIN. I called the number they left and let them know how I felt about their robot calls. Lakisha Johnson, whoever you are...I DON'T APPRECIATE YOU USING MY PHONE NUMBER! That's the downside of having a simple phone number. Simple people make up phone numbers and they use simple number combinations. They're called Simpletons for a reason, I guess.

I didn't get enough sleep and its showing.

Just before I got the robot call, I got a call from someone who mumbled her memorized speal. She, too, was calling for someone else, but I couldn't understand the name. (Don't we teach kids how to pronunicate anymore?) It could have been the same company. I don't expect to receive calls from them again.

Some days it feels like everyone is out to suck the last blood out of ya. One big money hungry monster leech.

What a bunch of crap digital tv is... I open the door and the signal gets lost. I open a window and the signal gets lost. I sit on the couch not moving and the signal gets lost. Or maybe its because the neighbor upstairs moved the wrong way. But what a bunch of crap.

And lets talk sound here, okay? First of all.... what sound!? I have to have the volume turned all the way up to simply hear it in a normal volume. But oh wait... the best is yet to come. When the commercials come on their volume is at full strength. Talk about jarring!!!

And the beeping to let me no there's no signal being received, like I wouldn't know that without the beeping. The beeping on speed.

Is this a conspiracy to get everyone buying cable or satellite service? Who gets the money with this change? I want to follow the money to see who's responsible. Like I could do anything about it.

This kind of activity is certainly not limited to Republicans. Its a human issue and not a political one... its just that as a general rule, Republicans seem to have a tendency to stand with their noses in the air proclaiming their moral strength and condemning others and all the while they're sneaking in back doors and playing in the dark.

If you can't make a damn video longer than a minute and a half, then TAKE SOME DAMN VIDEO LESSONS.

Have you tried to learn something when its cut up into 1 minute segments? It sucks. Their damn short videos suck up all the space!!!!!!!

It doesn't suck as much as a toothache or an infected sore, but it still sucks. Enough to make me mumble under my breath!

I can't get in about 7 channels. Fortunately, most are programs I would not watch anyway and one that I don't understand... but there are more than a couple that I want to be able to watch.

As my life experiences have increased over the years, so has my level of cynicism. Now I wonder if its really "for our benefit" or just another way of getting more money. And just what we need is another contraption that sucks up electricity 24/7. I don't know about others, but my converter box keeps a light on all the time. Either yellow or green. You know, so I can tell whether its in active mode or not 'cause I'm too stupid to figure it out myself.

One thing it does provide, however, is additional channels so we can be overwhelmed by commercials! Mumble mumble mumble.!

I just got finished watching the history of biological weapons... their development, etc. Ohmygawd. I don't need to go into details. I think anyone of a certain age, thus an amount of personal experience, knows governments are not above doing in their own citizens in the name of "good", be it good for the country or good for mankind. (no, I did not vomit as I keyed that in, but I did feel a little sick.)

As I watched how 'testing' was done on animals and uninformed people the term mad cow disease jumped into my thoughts. I wonder if mad-cow disease has any link with these kind of biological origins.

The white political males have apparently been offended by Sonia Sotomayor's (Supreme Court contender) comments that she thinks a Latina woman could make better judgments than a white man. And that's all they could come up with to counter Obama's nominee?!? I think that it, in and of itself, is proof of their so called ability to make good decisions. BWAH HA HA HA HA HA HA HA What a friggin' joke.

I also find myself wondering what the "regular" republicans (the common man, if you will) think about Russ Limbaugh being touted as the spokesperson for the party. Russ and Newt. I could be totally out in left field, but I'm thinking they are embarrassed. On the other hand, maybe not... which is scary.

And speaking of frauds, have you seen ads with Rick Scott who is against single-payer health insurance? His background is very interesting. I heard he headed one of those insurance companies but he had to step down because the company was caught defrauding the government/medicare. Of course he doesn't want a single-payer insurance. BTW, word has it that when he "stepped down" he left with $10 million dollars and $300 million in stocks. Now that punishment should certainly teach him and others a lesson. The lesson that crime doesn't pay.

"Its for your own good." Whenever you hear this just know you are about to be screwed. Screwed without even a kiss.

I hear it most from government, but that's only because I don't much trust the revenuers so I keep my ears open. You know, just to confirm it. "See! I told you so.... see how they said this, but its really that!!!"

Additional federal tax on cigarettes go into effect today. (The state will also be increasing their tax cut, too.) Its the largest tax increase ever put on tobacco products at one time. This rant isn't so much about the tax itself, but the lies used to present it to the public... although something might slip through here and there.

I've had a long period of time to adjust to this tax. Its been talked about for several months and over this period of time I have been able, when I focus, to accept the fact that I must help the children of the state have health insurance coverage. The government certainly isn't serious about it. If they were serious about it, they would fund it through stable means and not through something as variable as how many people smoke.

The real point of the spear is that 'they' say the purpose of the tax is to encourage people to stop smoking...then won't the world be a healthy place. Bullshit. The purpose of the tax is to get the government some money. Just tell it like it is and stop bullshitting people.

Who am I kidding. You can't be completely truthful to the general public. They freak out too easily.

Someone in our state government got chewed out really good one year because her budget for the children's health insurance coverage wasn't met. Too many people stopped smoking so the tax revenue declined. They had to cut coverage to lots of kids and restrict coverage on procedures. (What good is health insurance coverage if it doesn't cover anything? In name only, I guess. Looks good on the governor's resume.) This whole process seems to have been created to fail.

If the government was really serious about raising some revenue, it would legalize weed the same way they do alcohol. Now there's a revenue stream! It would also reduce spending and increase jail space, etc.

It would be interesting to find out whether or not the entire tobacco tax goes to health coverage for children. Well, I'm going to go have a puff or two on a cigarette. With each puff I'm going to tell myself that I just paid for one two year old to get an innoculation and I will smile. Okay... maybe I'll have to smoke several cigarettes to cover it. The doctor needs a new car.

Yesterday she had some highend furniture guy on her show. The chandelier he brought was only $36,000. Houses use to sell for that 20 yrs ago. And the name dropping. oh puleeese!

And she knows everything. A woman had brought some exotic birds on her show and was sharing info about them. She told Martha it was not a good idea to pet this one bird. What did Martha do? She continued petting the damn bird. I bet the bird lady was sweating bullets hoping the bird didn't peck Martha's eye out.

One good thing about it is that she's keeping a few folks employed. I'm talking about her personal employees on her "farm".

Whadda ya think... would Martha's story make a great inspiration movie? Caught in a lie because she got some insider information and she tried to dump her stock before the price dove. Spent time in jail and came back to probably double her net worth. How great is that. And where does she find to the time to do everything. Blog, write a book, so out promoting her businesses, entertaining, commuting... everything. She must be supply GOBs of people jobs.

That CEO who apologized for redecorating his office for over a million bucks and said he should have paid for it himself. He is so far removed from the little guys he doesn't have a clue. Can you imagine how some unemployed homeless people might feel when hearing that. When hearing he should have taken his own 1.2 million dollars and paid for the redecoration... and they've been paying 21-25% interest on citibanks credit cards so that the CEO could get millionS as a bonus. Hearing crap like that when needing a bailout to stay in business so that he can redecorate again in a couple of years.

I caught just a few minutes of Charlie Rose interviewing former president Jimmy Carter. We had similar opinions. He also thinks Bush will go down as the worse president ever (at least in foreign affairs) and he is very glad Obama is president. (Carter is just too nice to be in politics.) He didn't think there should be any criminal actions taken against the Bush administration... but I'm not so sure. Who knows what deeds lay hidden in the back of the files.

Carter also didn't believe Reagan deserves the title of outstanding president, as some claim him to be.... that he didn't do anything outstanding as president. I agree. I couldn't figure out why people heralded (?ed) him to be so great. He started the economic downfall. This doesn't mean he didn't do okay for an actor, but outstanding? I don't see it.

And former governor Blogojevich.... What a classic example of how men use denial to try to get out of being caught red handed. Its classic. Just keep denying it no matter that the police caught you with stolen goods or drugs in your pocket. Just keep denying it when your wife walks in to see you naked in the bed with another woman. "Its not what you think!" BWAH HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HAHAHA. I wonder how his arrogance will fair when the criminal investigation becomes a trial. Of course, it all depends upon who's on the jury, will they take a bribe, or can he use his boyish charms to get out of this one. I mean who knows what will happen. The judge, who remained nameless (how convenient), said the prosecution did not prove Madoff was a flight risk. How about the fact that Madoff clearly ignored the court's order to not do anything with his assets. (he mailed jewelry to friends and relatives. he almost got checks mailed out to others so there would be nothing to give the investors.) Ignoring a court order? What do you think would happen to you, if you did that? What does that say about the court orders? If you're wealthy, don't pay it any mind. Just do whatever you want to.... its your right because you have millions of dollars.

Bush's administration has not done anything for the little guy in this economic mess? He's only given money to the big corporations so they can continue to pay their execs. They've lowered interest rates to try to boost the economy but they have done nothing for the citizens. The people who happen to have homes that are still assessed to be worth more than the current mortgage can refinance to reduce their interest... but I've not heard of anything to help those whose home value has plummetted below their current mortgage. Nothing.

What they did do was to ignore those who predicted this would happen... those who tried to alert those who were suppose to pay attention. The government doesn't give a shit about the people. But they do seem to care a great deal about corporations.

Legal Crooks!

The feds, in particular the IRS, are the biggest bunch of crooks ever! I can see why someone might do something terribly drastic because of their antics. Maybe the whole system needs to collapse. Maybe we need to scratch everything and start all over. However, finding decent and HONEST people who are not greedy would be very difficult.

My IRS payment is late because I could not get to the mail box to send it on its way. I was hoping to do a pay-by-check over the phone but they don't do that. You have to go through some other company and pay them a fee. Spreading the wealth.

Well, my payment is already late so I guess its going to be a few more days cause I'm not paying more to make a payment. Try to do right and it costs you. Try to do wrong and it costs you. They need to appreciate the little guy who is giving them all the money to fight Bush's illegal wars, give out all those pork barrel projects, etc.

I'm fuming.

And if you're interested in why I have back taxes to pay, its because I used the wrong tax table. It was not because I was trying to get out of anything. I'm too poor to get out of anything. I need to be rich to catch a break. MFs!!!!

I just saw a news story pointing out that its time for the execs of the companies getting bailed out to get their yearend bonus. They showed one at $700K down from over a million last year. WTF?!?!

When Barney Frank was asked how this could be happening, why the loopholes, he replied something along the lines that he thought the companies would do the right thing on their own. WHAT THE HELL? IS BARNEY FRANK A COMPLETE IDIOT?? Apparently. Seems the whole country is being run by frigging idiots.

These greedy bastards didn't do a very good job of keeping their companies afloat. Why the hell should they get bonuses? And they've never done the right thing. Why would even an idiot think they would do so now. I WANT THE LOOPHOLES CLOSED. If the companies don't want to go along with them, then let them fail. We need a clean start. To hell with those greedy bastards!! Take the bailout money and give it to the investors directly to compensate for their losses...to replace their retirement money.

Someone explained that if bonuses weren't given out that the best minds would leave the companies and go else where... would go to companies who did not require a bailout. WELL DUH!!! If the best minds screwed the company so badly it was going to go belly up then they need to go else where. What the hell kind of excuse is that?
